You’ve Got That Right!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

John 19:5
When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, Pilate said to them, “Here is the man!”

O-bservation:

Pilate, who gave the order to crucify Jesus, found it hard to do, not because he had a special affection for Jesus, but because he really didn’t find anything that Jesus had done wrong. Much less wrong enough to deserve crucifixion. So he had Jesus flogged and then placed a crown of thorns upon his head in mockery to appease the Jewish leaders, then brought him out to present him by saying, “Here is the man!” The Jewish crowds instead responded by saying, “Crucify Him! And of course, that’s what Pilate eventually did.

A-pplication:

Pilate was being arrogant and facetious when he presented Jesus by saying, “Here is the man!” The reason I say this is that nothing could have been more true! Indeed Jesus was and is “The Man,” for all time. No one in history has been more “The Man,” than Jesus of Nazareth. He is “The Man,” and he is the only “True and Wise God,” at the exact same time. That’s what made Jesus such a gatherer of people. In a day when they had no electricity or ability to produce power of any kind, Jesus was already jamming the countryside with people as he talked about the real “Facts of Life.” Sometimes he would end the meetings by healing everyone who was there. Certainly, the Roman F.B.I. had a dossier on Jesus that told every story so that Pilate was fully apprised about who Jesus was. Maybe Pilate wasn’t being facetious after all when he said, “Here Is The Man!” Either way, I’d have to respond by saying, “You’ve Got That Right.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This morning I acknowledge you as “The Man,” and I acknowledge you as the “Only True And Wise God,” in the history of this planet. I long to see you one day face to face, and know that I will! Amen.
