S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Job 19:19
All my intimate friends detest me; those I love have turned against me.
O-bservation:
As you may already know, probably the most blessed/cursed man in all of the Bible was Job. In one day, he went from being the most Blessed man in the East to what appeared to be the most Cursed man in the East. It was during that time, Job states here, that he had arrived at a place in his life’s journey, where ALL of his friends DETESTED him. That leads us to the question, what do you do, “When All Your Friends Turn Against You?”
A-pplication:
I praise the Lord this AM that this has never happened to me. Certainly, there have been times when I called the three or four men in my life that have always been there for me, but never have I ever had all of my friends turn against me. This is not the end of the story for Job, but it’s also true that at this point in the story, he wasn’t nearing the end of his pain. In fact, he was in the dead center of it all and was like a man lost at sea, flailing in a hopeless situation. He still had to defend himself against friends who had become accusatory, and he indeed became bitter against God. Yet, in the end, he repented before the Lord, and God restored him to double back for all of his losses. I would say this. Job, even when he was bitter towards the Lord, always kept an open heart in God’s direction. And that’s what I would do if all of my friends were to turn against me.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
My prayer this AM is that I could keep my friends. I know I’ve always asked for the easy way. But most of all, I will yield to YOUR way! Amen
