Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Job 5:17
Blessed is the one whom God corrects, so do not despise the discipline of the Lord.
O-bservation:
During Job’s terrible ordeal, several friends came to speak with him. Initially, they had come to encourage him, some of which were encouragement. However, some of it was, in their opinion, what he should have done, and why he was suffering right now, and it became quite “preachy.” Yet, here his friend Eliphaz made a powerful observation. He said, “We’re Blessed When God Corrects us.”
A-pplication:
I’ve thought a lot about this passage through the years, and I must say it has been a guide to me throughout my life. I remember as a child when my father would correct me. At the time, it wasn’t pleasant; however, in time, I realized that he saved me from a potentially miserable future because his discipline redirected my poor choices. I learned from his discipline a better way to go. That’s exactly what happens when the Lord corrects us. In his correction, there is redirection when we yield to him. Whatever you may be going through right now, praise God and worship him because truly, “We’re Blessed When God Corrects Us!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, I’m putting things on hold for just a minute to honor you and thank you for the many times in my life that you have disciplined me. All of your loving disciplines have literally saved my life and actually given me a life. Thank you, my God! Amen
