Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Acts 9:5
“Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied.
O-bservation:
Saul, who was later renamed Paul by the Lord, was on his way to Damascus to arrest Christians for rebelling against Judaism. On that road, he saw a bright light that blinded him, and he was knocked off of his feet by this light. He heard this loud voice from heaven say, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” That’s when Saul said, “Who are you Lord?”
A-pplication:
I’ve often preached from this passage over the course of my long ministry career. When Saul asked, “Who are you Lord,” he knew that whoever he was dealing with was in charge of him. Seriously, think about that. Saul gets blinded by the light of someone radiating that kind of power and who also yells from heaven a question, “Why are you persecuting me?” There was no doubt in Saul’s mind that “If I live through this, whoever made this happen will indeed be my Lord.” He was calling his new Master Lord before he had truly met the Master. Few people ever get introduced to Jesus Christ in such an uproarious way, yet it’s also true that no one outside of Christ has had a bigger impact on the Kingdom of God in the age of Grace than this great man. “Lord Says It All!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
On this brand new day, I feel even more excited about serving you after reading this passage. You are my Lord from the first time I made the decision to follow you. Even though I haven’t turned the world upside down like St Paul did, I’ve never wavered from your Lordship in my life. Amen
