Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Leviticus 24:1-2
The Lord said to Moses, “Command the Israelites to bring you clear oil of pressed olives for the light so that the lamps may be kept burning continually.”
O-bservation:
These were God’s words to Moses about the duty of Aaron and the priesthood to keep the lights on in the temple. They were to light the candles in the candlestick at sundown and, just before sunup, blow the candles out. God spoke to Samuel, who, as a boy, was raised in the temple while Eli was the high priest. The Bible says that one night the Lord spoke to him “just before the lights had been turned off in the temple.” In other words, God came to Samuel in the pre-dawn time of the morning. At night the candles were to be lit to let the people know that God was always in His holy temple.
A-pplication:
We’re living in a time when many people are asking, “Where’s God?” The truth is, we need the Lord now more than at any time in history. The world is still battling a pandemic. People wonder if life will ever return to the old normal we knew less than a year ago. Yet one thing remains: people need the Lord. You and I are the light of the world because we are followers of Jesus. He has placed His light in our lives, and because of it, we are called to keep the lights on at all times. As a Jesus follower, I am called to continually live and say, “We’ll Keep The Lights On For You!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I want to keep my lights on for people who have lost their way. Please keep me fueled for the long haul. Amen
