S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Leviticus 21:12
Nor leave the sanctuary of his God or desecrate it, because he has been dedicated by the anointing oil of his God. I am the LORD.
O-bservation:
This entire chapter of Leviticus is dedicated to the proper actions of a priest unto God. This was part of the Old Testament, Jewish way of doing things. The priest was supposed to keep himself properly manicured and stay in the temple. The New Testament way of doing things by a priest or pastor has very little to do with STAYING in the temple or church. Instead, it has everything to do with GOING into society and compelling them to come to the house of the Lord.
A-pplication:
The Old Testament was a closed system that involved one nation of people, the Jews, trying to keep God’s laws to achieve holiness. The New Testament side of the Bible is way different. It was based upon the coming of God’s Son, Jesus, to the earth to die and resurrect for our sins that we may have eternal life one day. Because of that one act, God’s new way of approaching people is through the Good News of salvation. Consequently, all of us, not just the priests and pastors but all of us, are commanded to GO into all the world and preach the Good News. So when you’re pondering which to choose, “Stay Or Go,” we have no choice but to GO to others who need to hear the Good News of Jesus.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Once again, this AM, I’m ready to GO to spread the Good News of the gospel of Christ. Amen
