Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

O-bservation:

Jesus spoke to His disciples during a politically charged time in Israel’s history. The people still lived as Jews with Greek culture as their backdrop, yet the Romans ruled with an iron fist. The Jewish religion was dominated by the Pharisees, who couldn’t keep the law themselves but forced their religious views on the poor Jewish people who were trying to please God. And now here comes Jesus. He is God in the flesh. He tells His disciples, “I’m giving you PEACE. And with it, I will bring to you a life that you will be able to live Untroubled And Unafraid!”

A-pplication:

Even today, in our politically overbearing society, Jesus still offers His followers a life motivated by His peace! Because of this, He promises that we can live “Untroubled and Unafraid!” How is this possible? I believe it’s possible because Jesus, our big brother, our hero, our savior, and our deliverer, has already gone before us and died in our stead, so we can be released and set free from sin’s clutches! It doesn’t mean we won’t have opposition. It doesn’t mean we won’t have trials that seem insurmountable. But it does mean that because of Jesus, we can live “Untroubled and Unafraid!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m so grateful You have never left me or forsaken me. I’m thankful You are always with me, and You are my PEACE GIVER! Because You are, I am free today to live “Untroubled And Unafraid!” Amen
