Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Hebrews 9:22

In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

O-bservation:

In the Old Testament, God’s Law required that the Jewish people give penance using the only thing that could cover sin—the blood of an animal or bird of some kind. “This One Thing Was Required” of those seeking forgiveness from sin.

A-pplication:

The New Testament gave to signal a change to the entire world. No longer would the Jewish law and people be required to please the Lord. Instead, God sent his Son, Jesus. When Jesus came, it signaled an open door for the people from every tribe and nation to participate in God’s big family. Jesus would become, and did become, the once and for all sacrifice for humankind’s sin. Any man or woman who will turn to Jesus will be forgiven, saved, and granted eternal life! That’s why we call the willingness of Jesus to die for our sins and shed His blood to cleanse us of our sins GRACE. We all hate to talk about shed BLOOD, but “This One Thing Is Required” to be cleansed from sin. Because of Jesus, this one requirement was met once and for all.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Words fail me this AM to adequately thank You for Your incredible sacrifice that I can never comprehend. I sit in my study with food in my stomach, a roof over my head, and a wonderful family. I talk of your shed blood as if I had a clue. I can never imagine or participate in that event except to reap eternal life from it. Thank you, Jesus. Amen
