S-cripture:

Hebrews 12:14

Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.

O-bservation:

This is an amazing passage of scripture. It commands all believers to “Seek Peace with Everyone and Live Holy.” This is a challenging passage when you read it in our present-day context. We’re still fighting the pandemic, though we are open; however, everything seems politicized now. Even Christians seem to throw stuff at each other. Yet the command remains, “Seek Peace with Everyone and Live Holy.”

A-pplication:

When I was a teenager, we would say, “We don’t smoke, and we don’t chew, and we don’t go with girls who do!” Then we would all crack up laughing. But that was a form of legalism where we were putting our fingers on those things we thought were wrong to do. But even that was wrong. Follow Jesus because He will help you walk away from sin and live close to Him to be like Him. That’s real holiness. Living as Jesus lived. That’s the goal for every believer to “Seek Peace with Everyone and Live Holy.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Sometimes I feel like I’m in a war while trying to “Seek Peace and Living Holy.” Yet I know today that You are with me. I cherish this assurance and ask for Your help as never before! Amen
