Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Mark 7:6

He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.’”

O-bservation:

The Pharisees took Jesus on once again when they asked Him about His disciples not washing their hands properly before they ate. This was Jewish law. Jesus replied that the people who were coming against Him in this way were the very ones Isaiah had prophesied about when he said, “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.” In other words, “They Wouldn’t Walk The Talk.”

A-pplication:

We are living in an age not unlike the times of Jesus. We are part of what is known as the “Cancel Culture.” If someone doesn’t like what you said or did, they will go on social media and speak about something that you may or may not have done and then tell their friends not to befriend you any longer. Usually, the person being canceled did or said something that was reported, and the report was inaccurate. That’s exactly what these Pharisees wanted to do. Instead, Jesus called them out and identified them as the ones Isaiah had prophesied about six hundred years earlier! They could talk the talk, but “They Wouldn’t Walk The Talk.” Jesus has always called you and me up higher. It’s time for all of us to practice what we preach.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Help me, Jesus. I don’t want to preach something that I’m unwilling to live out. Only You can give me the strength to practice what I preach. Amen
