Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Numbers 20:6
Moses and Aaron went from the assembly to the entrance to the tent of meeting and fell facedown, and the glory of the Lord appeared to them.
O-bservation:
This is the story of the people of Israel who were camped in the Desert of Zin. Moses’ sister, Miriam, died there, and she was buried. But a larger challenge faced Israel. There was no water to drink, and the people complained to Moses and Aaron. The two brothers went into the tent of meeting and fell facedown and called to the Lord.
A-pplication:
In the face of crisis, Moses did the right thing. He went to the place of prayer, and God met Him there. The Lord told him to go to the rock and speak to it. The Lord said that water would pour out when Moses spoke to the rock. Enough to quench the thirst of those millions of Israelites and their livestock. Instead, Moses called out the rebellious children of Israel and struck the rock with his staff. When he did, water poured out. But God said, “Because you struck the rock and failed to speak to it, you will not enter the promised land.” Unfortunately, Moses, a man of God, well, “He Started Strong, But Finished Weak.” May you and I stay longer in the presence of the Lord until all anger is cast from our lives.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Whenever I read this passage, I always think Moses should have tarried longer in the tent of meeting and communed with You there. Help me to stay in Your presence until only You shine through me. Amen
