The World Wants To Know

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Luke 24:19a

“What things?” he asked.

O-bservation:

This is the story of Jesus meeting up with two men on the road to Emmaus, but they did not recognize Him. The men had been talking about all the wonderful things Jesus had accomplished while alive, but He had been crucified. When Jesus met them, He asked them what they were talking about. They said, “Are you kidding us? You must be the only one in Jerusalem that hasn’t heard about all the things that have happened there.” Jesus then asked, “What Things?”

A-pplication:

It occurred to me this AM as I read this story that this is what “The World Wants To Know.” If we’re not careful as followers of Jesus, we will get caught up in all kinds of discussions that have to do with politics or religious issues, and we will fail to discuss who Jesus is and what He can do in the lives of people who do and do not know Him. We so often assume the whole world, including our next-door neighbor, knows who Jesus is. The truth is, most of them DON’T KNOW! It’s time that we begin to tell everyone we know what great things our Lord has done and will do if we only let him. Jesus knew the answer to what He was asking, but He still asked what the whole world is asking today, “What Things?”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I am convicted this AM to be more purposeful in asking people if they’ve heard what Jesus has done. I’m convinced most of the world still has no clue what You’re ready to do for them if we will tell them. Amen
