The WAIT Before The Wow!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Acts 1:4

On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about.”

O-bservation:

These were the words of Jesus to His disciples after His resurrection while they were eating. They hadn’t yet headed to the Mount of Olives for His ascension into heaven, but He was telling them that when that happened, He wanted them to wait in Jerusalem for the gift of the Holy Spirit.

A-pplication:

You can read the rest of Acts chapter one and see that once Jesus had ascended into heaven from the Mount of Olives, the disciples went back to Jerusalem and waited for the promised Holy Spirit to come. I call it “The Wait Before The Wow!” Because it was a ten-day WAIT before the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Day of Pentecost. When it happened, Peter stepped out of a ten-day prayer meeting to preach the gospel to the masses for the first time in history. Three thousand people accepted Jesus as the Messiah and Lord and Savior that day, and the Christian faith was birthed all in one day! If God is in it, there will be times when he tells you to WAIT. When He does, you must believe that after the WAIT, the WOW will come.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I must confess this AM that there have been so many times in my life when You told me to WAIT. As I look back, I can recall time after time a WOW was always connected to my WAIT! Thank You for Your faithfulness. Amen
