S-cripture:

2 Corinthians 2:15

For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.

O-bservation:

These are St. Paul’s words from his second letter to the Church at Corinth. He said that to God, he and his fellow Apostles and church builders were a pleasing aroma of Christ. He said that his team smelled good to God when they were leading people to Jesus, and they smelled good to God when the people they preached to rejected them. Either way, Paul said, “We are The Pleasing Aroma Of Christ.”

A-pplication:

It’s never our job, as believers, to bring people to Jesus. Only God can do that. It’s the call of every believer to witness our faith in Jesus to people who do not believe. When we do that, we are like a pleasing aroma of Christ in the nostrils of God Almighty. I know that is a strange way of putting it in our present-day context, yet that was a very descriptive summary of God’s pleasure that people would have quickly understood in that day. It has always been the will of God that every true believer lives to introduce others to Jesus. When we do that, some accept and some reject. But as has been said, either way, we smell good to God. Do your best, and I will join you in being “The Pleasing Aroma Of Christ.”

Dear Jesus,

I don’t know how else to pray this today but to say I want to smell like you to the Father. I want to be Your witness for Your glory. Amen
