Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Obadiah 1:15a
The day of the Lord is near for all nations.
O-bservation:
Here the minor prophet Obadiah warned the enemies of Judah that “The Day Of The Lord,” was coming upon them. Then he talked about the “Law of Reciprocity.” By that, I mean the Lord said in this passage, “As you have done to others, it will be done to you.” Whenever the term “The Day of The Lord,” is used in scripture, it means that God is getting ready to do something extraordinary. That doesn’t always mean something bad but it’s usually connected to how one nation has treated another nations or how one person has treated other people. One more way of talking about the “Law of Reciprocity,” is, it’s the same as the “Law of the Harvest.” Sowing and reaping is what makes everything happen in this world.
A-pplication:
Certainly, you and I have no authority to turn our government one way or another except to pray. Yet, we both have the ability with God’s help to control our own passions and immediate desires to get back at someone who has hurt us However as soon as we give into those desires, in time someone will respond to us in the same way as we responded to them or to someone else. No matter what happens, whatever goes around comes around. Obadiah was not speaking for himself, he was speaking for the Lord. What I believe was being said here in a general way was simply, “The Day of The Lord,” will come upon you in an extraordinary way. Make sure you have planted the kinds of things you would like to receive in abundance because that’s the way the Lord operates.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, I’m leaving the house in a minute, and I’m going to plant really good seeds with your help. I will honor love, support and help those I come in contact with today. I want “The Day Of The Lord,” to be kind to me. Amen
