S-cripture:

Psalm 125:2

As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forevermore.

O-bservation:

In his exultation of the Almighty, King David proclaimed that just as the mountains surrounded Jerusalem, so the Lord God Almighty surrounds His people. Not just for right now, but forever. Mountains surround Jerusalem on every side. Jerusalem itself sets on four different hills. If you’ve ever been there, you know what is meant when they say, “We must go up to Jerusalem.”

A-pplication:

There is a popular worship song that’s been out for several years that has the line, “It may look like I’m surrounded, but I’m surrounded by YOU.” It is the Lord who is spoken of in that word YOU. I believe the writer must have been thinking of this passage when they wrote that song. The New Testament passage may be taken from Hebrews 13:5, where the writer reminds the reader of the Old Testament passage found in Deuteronomy 31:6. God says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you,” as the people entered the promised land. If you believe in Jesus, you have the promised Holy Spirit, who is your comforter. He is ALWAYS with us. So start your day knowing that you are not alone because the Lord is with you every step of the way. You are “Surrounded By The Lord.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m grateful this AM that I am never alone. Because of Your watchful care over me, I am surrounded by You, precious Lord. Amen
