Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Nehemiah 13:14
Remember me for this, my God, and do not blot out what I have so faithfully done for the house of my God and its services.
O-bservation:
When Nehemiah returned back from serving the King of Persia to inspect his homeland of Jerusalem, he found that an old nemesis named Tobiah had been given a place to stay in the temple of the Lord! Tobiah, who hated the God of Israel, was thrown out with his furniture, and the treasury was re-established. That made it possible for the Levites to come back to serving in the house of the Lord. When this happened, Nehemiah asked God to remember him for what he had done for the Lord.
A-pplication:
Nehemiah was “Surely Remembered, But The Issue Remains.” Every generation of people who want to see faith in God enhanced and moved forward will have their own Tobiahs to face. Each era will have to remove the Tobiahs from their midst in order to see the will of God established in the hearts of the people they serve. I’m sure Nehemiah wanted to be remembered for the good works he accomplished. We all want that to be part of our legacy. But, if he thought, and I’m not saying he did, but if he thought that what he had done would last for all time, all I can say is he was “Surely Remembered, But The Issue Remains.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Help me fight my battles today. I know that no one clears your house of evil intent for all time. But Lord help me to do that on my watch. Amen
