S-cripture:

Leviticus 19:32

Stand up in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the Lord.

O-bservation:

This was a Levitical law given by God that said an Israelite must stand when an elderly person entered the room and show them respect. In this way, a person will revere the Lord in heaven.

A-pplication:

I have had the privilege to travel the world in my lifetime. What I discovered is that people in third world countries, regardless of their religious persuasion, appear to keep this directive from the Lord far better than we in the western and developed countries. Especially in my country, the elderly appear to be living in facilities with people they don’t know and away from their families. When a nation fails to revere the God of the universe, the elderly are the first to go. Today, may you and I remember to “Stand Up And Show Some Respect!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Today I’m grateful for the opportunity to love those who are my elders. With Your help, I will continue to “Stand Up And Show Some Respect!” Amen
