Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Leviticus 15:1-2
The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When any man has an unusual bodily discharge, such a discharge is unclean.’”
O-bservation:
This chapter in Leviticus deals with the details of how a man and a woman were supposed to stay clean in bed, following the act of marriage. It’s embarrassing to read, but it’s even more embarrassing to write about.
A-pplication:
God cares for us whether it’s thousands of years ago or right now. In those days, sickness and disease were often connected to germs not being properly destroyed. There were no antibiotics. Sickness and disease could spread quickly and destroy many people. I have a goal to write a devotional from every chapter in the Bible. It will take me two more years. But after writing these daily posts since 2012, I’ve saved the most difficult for last. Because God cares for us and loves us so much, the way to keep our bodies healthy must be spoken of in graphic yet embarrassing ways. However, I’ve learned that “God Is Not Embarrassed Like We Are.” Because He’s not, I’m able to keep writing thousands of years later about embarrassing things. Humankind continues to flourish because of a NOT EMBARRASSED GOD who loves us.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, I’m grateful that you instructed our forefathers in graphic ways about how to stay clean and germ-free. Because of that, we’re still surviving and thriving. Thank you for loving us. Amen
