Sometimes Hope Is Not Enough

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Jeremiah 8:15

We hoped for peace but no good has come, for a time of healing but there is only terror.

O-bservation:

The people of Judah found themselves so steeped in sin and rebellion that when they HOPED for peace, no good came.

A-pplication:

In this same chapter, Judah had become so vile that their phony religious leaders dressed evil to look as though it wasn’t so bad. Jeremiah asks, “Are they afraid of their conduct?” Then he answers his own question by saying, “No they don’t even know how to blush!” (vs. 12). Have you ever hoped against all hope that something good would come out of something bad? I know I have. And indeed there were a few folks left in Judah that believed and hoped against all hope that somehow PEACE would come out of all the lousy junk they’d sown. In this case, God would not let that happen. Because “Sometimes Hope Is Not Enough!” Hope must be mixed with humility and repentance when evil is the order of the day.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

With Your help this AM, I’ll never lose HOPE. But please Lord, I’m ready for rebuke if need be to get me back on course. Amen
