Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Zechariah 7:10
Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor. Do not plot evil against each other.
O-bservation:
The prophet, Zechariah, spoke for the Lord when he talked here about what the other prophets of God had also spoken of. “Don’t put any hardship whatsoever on widows, people without fathers, foreigners, the poor and don’t plot evil against each other!” “Some Things Never Change!” That has always been God’s modus operandi, yet no one, not one nation in the history of the world, has thoroughly kept God’s command in this matter.
A-pplication:
Certainly, Israel, God’s chosen people, didn’t keep this command, and when you keep on reading, you will note that God told Israel, “You didn’t listen to my words and so now I will reject your cries for help.” Today here in the west, with all of our advantages and wealth, we still reject this command by God. We’ve broken every command in this one little verse alone. We get in trouble because of our rebellion and then cry for God to get us out of it. However, I do still believe 2 Chronicles 7:14 will work. Yet, God is looking for his church to rise up and take care of the business that is mentioned in this one verse. Because “Some Things Never Change.” Either we do, or he won’t.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Here’s what I want to say in my short prayer. I want to obey you explicitly in these matters. I can’t do it alone. I need your help today. Please help me, Jesus! Amen
