SHIPWRECKED

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Timothy 1:19

Holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith.

O-bservation:

Paul the Apostle wrote to his son in the faith, who’s name was Timothy. He encouraged him to hold on to his faith and respect his conscience, otherwise his faith could suffer “SHIPWRECK.”  Because that’s what Paul had seen happen to others.

A-pplication:

I literally just saw an Instagram photo of a luxury yacht which had been “Shipwrecked” this AM. It startled me. I had two thoughts: the captain of that ship wasn’t paying attention, or perhaps the captain had gotten lost in a storm. Either way it was the Captain’s fault. Our life is like a ship. We as the captain have the authority about which way we will steer our ship. I hear people who have suffered “SHIPWRECK” in their lives question what happened. They say, “I’m a Christian, I just don’t know why God let this happen?” The more you hear their story, you begin to find out that they never gave the “HELM” to Jesus. Paul gives us the secret to avoiding “SHIPWRECK” in this life. We’re called to hold on to our FAITH, and to respect our CONSCIENCE. When things aren’t right, our CONSCIENCE will signal to our soul that there are rocks ahead. If we’ve given Jesus the helm of our ship, we’ll avoid being, “SHIPWRECKED.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM I know I’m the Captain of my ship, You have given me that role. But, once again I’m giving you the HELM. Amen
