Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
1 Peter 3:11
They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it.
O-bservation:
These are the words of St. Peter to Jesus’ Followers everywhere. He had started by saying that if there was anyone who loved life and wanted to see good things happen in the future, they had to turn from evil and do good, and furthermore, they were to seek peace and pursue it or “Run For It.”
A-pplication:
What is it that you need today? Are you hoping for a million dollars? Is it your desire to live carefree? What about a husband or a wife? Is that what you are hoping for? Perhaps you’ve grown beyond the job you have, and it just doesn’t appeal to you anymore. Have you felt like you need to go back to school, even if you’re older than most students are today? Whatever it is that you’re in need of, I believe God wants to give you the desires of your heart. If this is his will, you couldn’t have a better partner than Jesus to help you reach your goals. However, there is one thing that St. Peter encouraged us to all do. He tells us to “Seek Peace And Pursue It.” Never before in my lifetime have people been more ready to fight over stuff that really doesn’t matter. But that’s not Jesus’ way. His way is the way of peace. In fact, Peter says to PURSUE PEACE! If you can see peace in the distance, “Run For It!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I know it’s your will for all of us to seek peace in these troubled times. But now you’re telling us that once we find peach, we are to “Run For It!” Running to catch peace is kind of like running for my life. I’m ready to “Run For It,” today. Amen
