S-cripture:
Isaiah 45:1
“This is what the Lord says to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of to subdue nations before him and to strip kings of their armor,to open doors before him so that gates will not be shut”
O-bservation:
This is undeniably one of the most “INCREDIBLE” verses in the entire bible. Isaiah prophesied the name of a future king Cyrus who was not born yet, who would destroy Babylon and set the Jewish people free from their seventy years of captivity and oppression. Some say Isaiah may have prophesied this two hundred years before the event. Others say it could have been one hundred and fifty to sixty years before it happened, but make no mistake about it, in 539 BC, Cyrus the Persian king did exactly that. “INCREDIBLE!”
A-pplication:
It’s hard for secular people to stop and even take time to think about the previous observation. So many people are locked into their own little world of how things are supposed to be that the idea of a God who is alive and loves them is insane. Yet, what I just mentioned above is a fact. Historically the prophet Isaiah who lived on earth and is immortalized by his prophesies, said that in time a king from Persia would come and destroy Babylon, which was not yet a world power, and would set the Israelis free from the captivity and oppression of the Babylonians. The Jewish people at the time were not held in captivity, and many of them probably thought Isaiah was off. Yet all of it happened somewhere between 150-200 years later! Don’t you believe today that your God has your life planned out for good? Don’t you believe that if you and I will simply place our future in his hands, he will work it out in our favor? I sure do. Because our God is “INCREDIBLE!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This morning I’m once again made aware of your sovereign greatness through time and history. I yield to you, my God. There is no one before you. You are my all in all. You are “INCREDIBLE!” Amen
