Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Job 29:11
Whoever heard me spoke well of me, and those who saw me commended me.
O-bservation:
These are the words of Job as he reminisced about the “good old days.” Here he was speaking to three of his friends while still mired in the mess that God had allowed to come upon him. He was recalling the days when he would sit with the leaders of the city and how the young men would step aside when he entered their space and the older men would rise. His whole presentation had to do with the way things used to be. But even then, it was as if God was saying to Job, “Remember When? It Can Happen Again!”
A-pplication:
I’m of the strong opinion that if you’re still breathing, you still have a divine calling to fulfill. Some weeks back, I was at one of our senior church lady’s ninety-fifth birthday party! The room was filled with people celebrating her birthday. Sitting in her wheelchair, she was all dressed up with a smile as wide as heaven itself. From a nursing home, she was, as always, controlling the action. People still wanted to be with her. Now, if a ninety-five-year-old woman of God can do that, why can’t you? Whatever acclaim you once had is still there for choosing if you’re ready. If God did it for Job, he can do it for you.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, I’m grateful for another day! I’m grateful for life and life more abundantly. I’m asking you this AM to help me maintain a joy about the life I have and what you have in front of me. I’m all yours! Amen
