Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
John 2:12
After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and brothers and his disciples. There they stayed for a few days.
O-bservation:
Jesus had just worked His first miracle of changing water into wine in Cana. After the miracle was complete, He headed to Capernaum for a few days of rest and relaxation with His mom and brothers, and He also took His disciples with Him. The scripture says when He worked the miracle at Cana, His disciples believed in Him. Perhaps Jesus was looking for some “Quality Family Time.”
A-pplication:
I’m not saying that even God needs a break, but I do believe Jesus laid down an important activity of healthy relationships when He took a break to be with His family. Some believe He had four brothers and two sisters, and of course, they would all have been half brothers and sisters, and by this time, their earthly father, Joseph, had passed away. Yet, make no mistake about it, Jesus loved His earthly family. In time, two of His brothers were powerful disciples and leaders in the church. James and Judas each wrote books in the Bible under the names of James and Jude. Whatever kind of family you have, big or small, make sure you set aside “Quality Family Time” with them. It’s the kind of thing that makes great family legacies.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, I’m thinking about my family. All of them have grown and have families of their own, save one. I can never thank You enough for the “Quality Family Time” we have shared through the years and the wonderful men they have grown to be. Thank you, Jesus. Amen
