Nothing Ever Slips By God

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Numbers 31:8b

They also killed Balaam son of Beor with the sword.

O-bservation:

Balaam was a seer or prophet who Balek, the king of Moab, hired to curse the Israelites. You can find this story in this chapters twenty-two through twenty-five. It is a strange story where Balaam’s donkey spoke to him. But his sin was in speaking to the people of Israel on behalf of a heathen king and his people for money and for encouraging the Midianites on how to seduce the people of God. Oddly enough, he didn’t curse Israel, but God was not happy. Some years later, before Moses’ death, God told him to send the Israeli army to destroy all the Midianite men. Why? Somehow, if you read it correctly, Balaam had been paid to curse the Israelis yet blessed them. On the other hand, he taught the Midianites to seduce the people of God. Great sin, and then God’s judgment fell upon Israel. God’s finger was pointed at Balaam. He was such a polarizing figure in the Bible. Yet, God did not let him off His holy hook!

A-pplication:

“Nothing Ever Slips By God!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM, I’m reminded that if I am willing to repent, You are always willing to forgive. But if I try and live as though nothing has happened, when all along I’m just covering things up, you will step in. Nothing ever slips by You. Amen
