Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
1 John 2:2
He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
O-bservation:
John the Beloved was finishing up a short narrative about Jesus, well after Jesus had been crucified and resurrected from the grave and then ascended into heaven. John knew Jesus well as one of three men who formed Jesus’ inner circle. He finished this thought by telling us that Jesus is the atoning sacrifice for sin. Not only for you and me but for the whole world!
A-pplication:
By the way, “Merry Christmas!” That’s right! I can’t keep going without acknowledging that this is Christmas Day. It’s the day we celebrate the birth of Jesus. But why He came is why I’m saying to you today that indeed it is a very “Merry Christmas!” Jesus didn’t come to this world as a gift from Father God for just a select few. No! Jesus came to abolish the sins of every man and woman on the face of the earth who will embrace Him as Lord and Messiah. That’s right. It’s not a forced embrace. Jesus has NO ROBOTS! It’s a decision every person must make that says, “I’m lost, I need a Savior, and I embrace Jesus as my Lord and Savior.” When any person makes that decision, after that, all they can say is, “Merry Christmas!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Every Christmas Day, I’m reminded why this is a Merry Christmas for my family and me. Our sins are forgiven, and eternal life is our future! Thank You for coming down so we can one day go up! Amen
