Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
John 20:16
Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”).
O-bservation:
This was the turning point in the amazing exchange between Mary and Jesus at the garden tomb. That’s right. Mary had looked at Jesus and asked if He knew where they had taken her Lord because he wasn’t in the tomb. She didn’t recognize the risen Savior at first. But then Jesus said to her, “Mary!” And immediately Mary knew it was Jesus!
A-pplication:
I think there’s something to be said for the fact that “Jesus Knows Your Name!” You can call it voice inflections or an individual’s certain brogue when speaking, but when your friends, family members, or good acquaintances call your name, you usually pick up on who’s speaking even when you’re not looking at their face. That was certainly true of Mary even while looking AT His face. It took this actual calling out of her name for her to wake up to the fact that this was JESUS! The point that I want to make here is that Jesus knows YOUR name as well. Whether or not you have many friends or no friends, there is ONE who knows your name and would love to fill in the relationship gaps in your life.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’ve always known that You know my name! I heard You call me many years ago before I yielded to You. I’ve heard You call me in times of trouble or joy with just the right words to steady my ship or bring me back to earth. I’m glad You know my name. Amen
