Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 87:7
As they make music they will sing, “All my fountains are in you.”

O-bservation:

The Psalmist was saying all of my joy, hope, encouragement, and victory are in you, speaking of Zion. That was the home of the people of God in the Old Testament. However, with the birth of the Church in the New Testament after Jesus the Messiah’s sacrifice on the cross and subsequent resurrection from the grave, New Testament writers and theologians believe that the Old Testament prophecies concerning Zion were really a vision of the Church to come. It’s so true that the family of God is the first to embrace us after we have come to faith in Christ. The writer said that as the people are “Making Melodies,” they will sing…..” All of my fountains are in you.”

A-pplication:

What does “All Of My Fountains Are In You” mean? I think what is being said by the writer is simply, “O Zion or O Church – all of my salvation and the grace I have received are in you. My joy and my victory are in you. My eyes, the way I look at life, all of my looks are in you.  In other words, the new believer looks to the Church and to his or her righteous reward as that which is found in God’s house in the presence of the Lord. The joy that follows is usually found in song. Whenever I came home from school as a boy, my mother was always singing or playing the piano or listening to gospel singing on the radio or on the get ready, “RECORD PLAYER!” That’s right! Mom was always “Making Melodies” in our home. We didn’t have much, but we were forgiven by Jesus and given an eternal reward. I would count the days till the next church meeting. Is that joy in you this morning? Because if it is, you will be “Making Melodies,” all day long!

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I guess I owe everything to YOU- and My Mother. She helped us kids remember what was waiting on the other side of this life because of what you had done for us. I’ll never stop “Making Melodies,” to and for and about you, after all you have done for me. Amen
