Living With An Open Hand

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 145:16
You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.

O-bservation:

Here King David of Israel said of our God that he lives with an “open hand” towards every living thing that he has created. That would include we humans, animals, and plants. God’s “Open Hand,” represents his heart and the actual character of generosity. A closed hand would say, “It’s mine to keep,” but his open hand says, “It’s mine to give.” When you really recognize the heart of God and his open hand policy, it would suggest that all of us should choose “Living With An Open Hand.”

A-pplication:

There was a long period in my life where I truly believed that ownership was everything. To be able to own your own house, car, business, etc. But the closer I get to going to heaven and seeing Jesus someday, I realize that I own nothing and that whatever I have will leave my hand and enter someone else’s hand of ownership when I die. I know what you’re thinking. “Yeah Rich but I’m not dead yet!” However, there are so many people who could be called “dead people walking,” because they have a closed hand on everything God has entrusted them with. Two things happen when you close your hand on what you think is YOUR STUFF. First, there’s no way for God to give you more because your hand is closed. Second, what you have isn’t helping the world around you. It may be accumulating, but it’s just sitting. Why not join me, and let’s start the “Living With An Open Hand,” way of doing things? I promise you the blessings are pouring down as I write.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM, I am so thrilled that you taught me a number of years ago to open my hand to others’ needs instead of closing my hand and thinking only of my needs. You taught me to live with an “Open Hand,” just like you do towards the needs of others. Amen
