The Capstone

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 128:6a
May you live to see your children’s children.

O-bservation:

I could have called this devotional “The Blessings of A Godly Man,” but this short line that ends this chapter is “The Capstone” to a man who would live his life for the Lord. The writer says if you fear the Lord as a man of God, you will eat the fruit of your labor, and God will bless you and prosper you. Your wife will be fruitful and bear children. Your table will be surrounded by children at the family dinner. Then he said, “May you live to see your children’s children and peace be upon Israel.

A-pplication:

There are many Godly men who never married. There are also Godly men who married and never had children. Finally, there are, I believe, Godly men whose family has just not followed the ways of the Lord. Yet there is this Old Testament promise. What went wrong? I’m not prepared to answer that. There’s an opposite to just about every promise in the Word. That being said, there is this promise and hope. What would be “The Capstone,” to a life well lived for a man of God? I truly believe it is found in this one line. “May You Live To See Your Children’s Children.” This hope that many have actually experienced (including me) is true, “The Capstone,” for a man of God because he feels assured that he has a legacy that will follow long past his own life. May it be true of you, both male and female, who read this post this AM.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

First of all, this AM, I want to thank you for helping me see this passage become a reality in my own life. I never dreamed I’d be this old. But I also never thought I’d see the day when I played with my children’s children. Help me be a grandfather that my children’s children can say, “Papi loves Jesus ” Amen
