Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Deuteronomy 9:6

Understand, then, that it is not because of your righteousness that the Lord your God is giving you this good land to possess, for you are a stiff-necked people.

O-bservation:

Earlier in this same chapter, the Lord spoke through Moses to the people of Israel and said, “It is not because of your righteousness or your integrity that the Lord is giving you this land, but because of the wickedness of the nations that I will drive out of this territory so that you can live there.” Then he says, “Just to Clarify, it is not because of your righteousness that I’m going to give you this land because, to be honest, you yourselves are a stiff-necked people.”

A-pplication:

I don’t know how much clearer the Lord could have made this gift. He was giving not because of any righteousness that the people of Israel had done; He was giving it because the other nations were wretched in their living. God, because of His love, gave their land to Israel. There’s one more place in the New Testament that the Lord tells His church that it’s not because of us that He has blessed us. It’s as if He says through the Apostle Paul in Titus 3:5, Just to Clarify, not by works of righteousness we have done, but according to His mercy, He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit! That’s “Just to Clarify!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM, I’m thankful that even when I didn’t deserve Your grace, You loved me and forgave me anyway. I’m very clear on that point! Amen
