S-cripture:
Hebrews 11:12
And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendents has numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore.
O-bservation:
The writer of Hebrews talked about the great prophet and patriarch of the Jewish people, Abraham. He said that from “Just One Man, All But Dead,” came a nation that was just too numerous to count. If you will remember, the promised child Isaac, was not born until Abraham was a hundred years old, and his wife Sarah, who was barren, was ninety. Yet the Bible says that Abraham staggered not at the promise of God and believed and had a son.
A-pplication:
You just need one. That’s right, when it comes to legacy, you just really need one offspring, and of course, in the Old Testament, the legacy had to begin with a male offspring. Usually, people that are ninety and one hundred don’t bear children, yet God’s a big God, and Abraham and his wife Sarah, by faith, pressed on, and God delivered on his promise. My son Rich Jr married a young lady named DawnChere’ whose grandfather, Rev. Rodney Duron, pastored the Shreveport Community Church for fifty-seven years. He was a truly great man of God. He and his lovely wife were married for 62 years when the Lord called him home. They had ONE child Denny. He, Denny, has been my friend since we were twenty-five years old. He will turn seventy at the end of August of this year, and I’m one week younger than he is. He and his wife DeAnza have 7 children! Five of them are boys, and between all of their kids, they’ve got 15 grandchildren. Now, none of that is greater than the story of Abraham, but God can do a lot with JUST ONE OFFSPRING!
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m thinking of that old adage that says, “We can count the seeds in an apple, but only God can count the apples in just one seed. I’m asking that you would never let me ever limit you in any way. You can do a lot with JUST ONE OFFSPRING! Amen
