Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
1 Chronicles 18:14
David reigned over all Israel, doing what was just and right for all his people.
O-bservation:
This passage begins David’s march to the end of his reign as the King of Israel. In this verse, we are told that David was able to rule this (at that time) huge nation of great people with justice and righteousness! And when you read this, if you’re like me, you can’t help but say, “I Want To Do That!” I don’t mean I want to be David or lead a huge nation. What I am saying is, that’s the kind of person I want to be. I want to lead with justice and righteousness.
A-pplication:
Everybody leads somebody. Even when you don’t think you do, you do! I took a taxi home the other night from the airport. It was too late for the Uber guys to be answering. As I rode in the back seat, I thought this man was leading me home. I need him in my life tonight. Maybe you’re a very quiet person and don’t talk much, but you are a single mom, and you are leading those three children of yours. It’s all leadership. What do you want to lead with if you’re the taxi driver or the single mom? Either way, I want to lead with justice and righteousness. This world is only getting messier and messier; however, when you’ve boiled it all down to everyday life, justice and righteousness go hand in hand, and we need that kind of person now more than ever. “I Want To Do That!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Thank you for the example of King David, who lead for 40 years with justice and righteousness. “I Want To Do That,” too! Help me, Jesus. Amen
