Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 63:1
You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.
O-bservation:
Here King David stresses his great need for God. He relates his need for God as if he were in a desert and there was no water to be found anywhere. He said I THIRST for YOU! All of me – my entire being is desperately longing for your presence in my life. He wasn’t this time running from his enemy and needing God in that way; it was just an inner longing that wouldn’t leave David. It reminds me of the times I’ve prayed, “I Need You Jesus!”
A-pplication:
There are so many things I think I need in this life. I would wager that you’re probably like me in that regard. We get our minds fixed on something and tell ourselves we need that. I see something I like, and I say… “I Need That!” And then, if I do get it, there’s really no fulfillment after a minute or so. Then it’s on to something else. I’m not trying to make excuses for myself, but I do think a lot of this has to do with human nature. Not long ago, I saw one of my country’s wealthiest people, and he was on his massive yacht that resembled a Luxury aircraft carrier. You could tell by looking into his eyes he was thinking about the next thing. It hadn’t made him fulfilled. That’s the way it is with stuff. But, when you truly have been changed by the love and salvation of Jesus, then for the rest of your life, you will say on a daily basis, “I Need You Jesus!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
There are so many things I think I’ve needed in this life, and none of them have given me any kind of lasting fulfillment. But here I am again this AM saying like I always do, “I Really Need You Jesus!” Amen
