Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Matthew 8:8
The centurion replied, Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
O-bservation:
This is the story of the Roman soldier who was a heathen yet a God-fearing man. He came to Jesus and said, “I have a servant at my house who is desperately sick. Jesus said would you like for me to come to your house? The man said, “No, ‘Just Say The Word.’ For I am a man under authority, and I also have people under my authority, and I tell them to do something, and they do it. You don’t have to come to my house, because I know they will be healed if you, ‘Just Say The Word.” Jesus did, and the servant was healed.
A-pplication:
Jesus first responded to the man by saying, “I’ve not seen this kind of faith in all of Israel.” I love this story so much because it’s one more time where Jesus responded to real faith. The gospel story is a difficult story to accept at face value. The only way it can be received is through FAITH. So if you or any person decides to believe and have faith to receive Jesus as Lord, you and they are actually saying, “I have faith against all odds that this is true.” If you and I can have faith to become a Christ Follower, certainly like this Roman Centurion, we can have faith to say to Jesus, “Just Say The Word,’ and my child or my spouse, or my father or mother will be healed.” Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever, so at any point, you can ask him to “Just Say The Word.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m blessed today to call you my Lord. I’m grateful that you still save, heal and deliver people in this present time. More than ever, Jesus, I’m asking you to “Just Say The Word!” Really that’s all I need. Amen
