Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 78:35
They remembered that God was their Rock, that God Most High was their Redeemer.
O-bservation:
It appears that this is a very positive passage from the pen of the Psalmist. Yet when the entire chapter is read, it’s easy to see that Israel was constantly turning its back and rebelling against the Lord. Over and over, God’s only option was to punish the Israelites in their wilderness experience because of their continual rebellion. After each rebellion, God would discipline them, and then they would remember who he was and return to him, only to rebel again. “How Soon They Forgot!”
A-pplication:
Are we like the Israelites? I hope not. I don’t want to be a wayward child. Yet, when I look at this nation of ours, I only have to look at my nearly seven decades of living and see how far we have strayed from the days of a better righteous way of living. There was a day when marriage was more revered. There was a day when children were better-taken care of. There was a day when Sunday wasn’t just another day. There was a day when school was a place where scholarship really was the end goal. There was a day when most folks paused to give thanks before the meal. How soon we have forgotten. But, today, my friend, you and I don’t have to go that way. Today you and I can remember that our Savior is our Rock and our Redeemer.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Here is my promise to you this AM. I will never forget it. You truly are my Rock and my Redeemer. Amen
