Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Job 42:11
All his brothers and sisters and everyone who had known him before came and ate with him in his house. They comforted and consoled him over all of the trouble the Lord had brought on him, and each one gave him a piece of silver and a gold ring.
O-bservation:
In the first chapter of Job verse number three, part “B” the Bible tells us that before Jobs struggles, he was the greatest man in all of the east. This seems to indicate that “all of the east,” at that time would have included the entire population of Palestine all the way to the Euphrates. So in today’s numbers, his wealth would have exceeded the Western wealth of great business leaders and owners and would have been more in line with the wealth of people like the King of Saudi Arabia. In other words, Job knew how to make money and control money. When the Lord restored to him double his former wealth, we see all of his brothers and sisters and former friends returning to be his friend again, and each of them brought Job a piece of silver and a gold ring. They wanted to invest in his new business ventures! It’s as if they were saying, “Hey Everybody, Job’s Back!”
A-pplication:
Have you ever felt so down that you didn’t believe you could ever recover? I have! That’s the place that Job lived in for quite some time. His despair was notable and perhaps you’ve read all about him. But God never forgot Job when others had. I want you to know that God has not forgotten you either. You’re going to come out of this hard challenge you’re faced with today, if you will keep holding onto the Lord. I can see the day coming where your friends will gather around you and say, “Hey Everybody, (Insert Your Name) Is Back!” You’ve got to believe that!
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I remember back to the time I was in the hospital dying and no one even knew I was there. It all happened so quick we couldn’t even get the word out! But you knew. You restored me to full health and you’ve made me into a blessing for others. I’m asking you to do that for my friend, who is listening to this devotional right now in Jesus name. Amen
