Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Isaiah 9:2
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness, a light has dawned.
O-bservation:
These words by Isaiah were prophesied while he himself was living under the terrible and dark reign of King Ahaz. Yet this prophecy, as you continue to read, is a prophecy concerning the coming Messiah, Jesus. They were still hundreds of years away from Jesus being born in Bethlehem and raised in Galilee, but this prophetic word by Isaiah must have birthed new hope to the people of God. Why? Because they, at that time, were living in darkness and just the thought of light coming into their dark world was hope enough. Jesus, “He Is The Light.”
A-pplication:
What dark places are you grappling with this AM? Here in Miami, the sun is up, and the grass is turning brown. It’s so hot I think you could cook eggs on the sidewalk. But just because it’s bright outside, you could still be sensing darkness all around. It’s amazing what is birthed in the dark. Sometimes little babies are born in the darkest of the night. But more often than not, evil opportunities are offered in the dark. Maybe your darkness has become too big of a burden for you to bear. I’m happy to let you know that you don’t have to bear this burden alone for one more hour because Jesus, “He Is The Light.” I’m sure you’ve seen bugs, and sometimes little mice scatter when the lights get turned on in the kitchen. Trust me, when Jesus the light steps into your darkness, every varmint will have to flee because “He Is The Light!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’ve blessed this AM to know that you are my light and my salvation. Since I know you’re always with me, I wake up with a huge jump on the rest of the world!! Every day’s a new day with you. Thank you, Lord, that the night has forever past in my life. Amen
