You Can’t Scare People Into Heaven

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Revelation 9:20a
The rest of mankind who are not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands.

O-bservation:

This Revelation passage tells us that “You Can’t Scare People Into Heaven.” John saw this futuristic vision of the end-time. It is a seven-year period known as the Tribulation, which is still to come. However, the terrible judgments poured out by God on a rebellious people here on earth is shocking to read. One-third of humankind is killed in this chapter alone, and the judgment is so severe that people cried to die but couldn’t. But the people who remained after this judgment still refused to repent of their atrocious sins.

A-pplication:

Through the years, as I’ve read this passage, I’ve always been stopped in my tracks as I’ve read that these people STILL DIDN’T REPENT of their sins. I believe there comes a point in time when a person is so unnerved by their own rebellion that they live with kind of a “Bring it on God,” mentality. Yet, the truth remains that God is God, and you cannot dare him. I’ve been in Christian service now for over a half a century, and I can tell you, there are some people who defy God. I’ve met them, I’ve tried to reason with them, but when a person decides to dig their heels in against a loving God their future is not a bright future. I know this, “You Can’t Scare People Into Heaven.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM, I’m shaking my head at the rebelliousness of mankind. All through history, we read of the most debauched behavior imaginable. You said in the last days that the deception would be so intense that even the elect of God would be tempted. I’ll stick with love I know fear doesn’t work. Amen
