Why I Believe God is Real

Have you ever tried to explain faith to someone who is completely unfamiliar with the concept? It can be a difficult conversation if you aren’t sure of your own faith so it’s important to have a good grasp of the subject. I can’t even count how many times I’ve talked to others about the importance of faith, the role it plays in our lives, and how it strengthens our relations with Jesus.
The dictionary defines faith as “complete trust or confidence in someone or something” or “strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.” I agree with part of that definition, but I think they’ve got part of it wrong.
I do have complete confidence and trust in God, so by that definition alone I have faith in Him. And I have a strong belief in God and the mandates Jesus gave to each of us. What I disagree with is the assumption that no proof of God exists.
Let me share some of the proof I’ve seen:
•             I’ve seen biblical truths come to fruition in my life and the lives around us. “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32).
•             I’ve witnessed signs and wonders. “Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles” (Acts 2:43).
•             I’ve prayed for healing and people have come back from the brink of death, including my own son. “Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven” (James 5:14-15).
•             The world around us, even our very DNA shows signs of master planning and coordination. “For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him” (Col. 1:16).
I could go on and on, friend, but the truth is I have NO doubts that God exists. I know He plays an active role in each of our lives. He wants to be in relationship with each of us. In fact, that’s His missio Dei (the Mission of God). A mission we see woven throughout Scripture.
What’s more, you and I are both active participants in that mission. Our individual missions in life play a part in God’s larger mission. We are parts of a large body of Jesus followers working together to go out into the world and make disciples.
So why do I believe in God? Because He is our Creator. He is our Heavenly Father and He sent His Son to earth to atone for our sins so we can spend eternity with Him. I feel His presence in my life each and every day through the presence of the Holy Spirit in my life. I believe in God because no other option is possible!

Greg Ward, Attorney

The Ward Law Group was founded by attorneys Gregory Ward and Jany Martinez-Ward with a goal to contribute to the Hispanic community’s legal needs after suffering a car accident. Their passion shows in their work as they ensure that each case settles for the maximum compensation possible, and in supporting represented victims as they recover from physical injuries and financial losses.

As an experienced attorney who once represented insurance companies, Gregory Ward has a deep understanding of how they operate and what aspects can create or diminish the value of the cases he represents. This knowledge has led him to become a gifted negotiator and litigator defending the rights of his clients residing in the Miami Lakes, Miami, Orlando, and Kissimmee areas.
