Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
2 Kings 4:2
Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?”
O-bservation:
One of Elisha’s fellow prophets from his company of prophets had died. His wife came running to Elisha, saying, “My husband has died and now his creditor is going to come to my house and take my two sons as his slaves to pay off their fathers debt! Please help me.” Elisha said, “What Do You Have That I Can Work With?”
A-pplication:
The woman answered Elisha and told him that she had a jar of oil in her house. The man of God said, “Alright go and ask your neighbors for as many empty jars as they have. Once you collect all of the jars, begin to pour the oil from your jar into the empty jars and once you’ve filled all of the jars sell the oil and you’ll have enough money to pay off the debt.” That’s exactly what the woman did, and that’s exactly what happened. Yes, it was a miracle, but Elisha insisted on some kind of seed from the woman with which to start the miracle. When Moses was afraid to speak with Pharaoh, God said, “What do you have in your hand?” Moses said, “A staff.” God told him to throw it on the ground. Moses obeyed, and the staff turned into a snake. God told him to pick it up. When Moses obeyed again, the snake turned back into a staff. That miracle rod, in time, got Pharaoh’s attention, and you know the rest of the story. If you’re in need of a miracle this AM be ready for God to ask, “What Do You Have That I Can Work With?”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I know that every answered prayer usually requires the person who is praying, giving you something you can work with. Whatever you see that I can’t see that’s worth anything, please tell me because I’m ready to obey. I’m in need of a miracle. Amen
