Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 130:3a
If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?
O-bservation:
Here is the situation and the question in one sentence. The Psalmist said, “Lord if you kept a record of each of our sins, who could ever stand such a thing?” Now here’s my answer to this question. “We Could Never Stand That!” Now let me qualify this. There is a record, but the record only pertains to unconfessed sins. Once you confess your sins, the Lord erases that from your record. If he didn’t, we would be so burdened down with past sins that the weight of it all would crush us.
A-pplication:
Here’s the truth. God will never let too much come upon us that we are crushed. Instead, he will always make a way to escape so that we can bear anything that has kept us from true freedom in Jesus. (1 Cor. 10:13) Otherwise, “We Could Never Stand That!” But this AM, I’m thinking of those who just refuse to receive the Lord’s forgiveness. What do they do? They layer sin and layer sin and layer sin to the point that the load becomes too heavy to carry, and they either die of a heart attack or some other disease befalls them. Some decide to check out early because suicide is rampant in this country. Yet there are those who won’t stop until they connect with their Lord. When they do, the answer becomes so clear. They yield to God, and Jesus forgives them and gives them eternal life. What an exchange!! If that hadn’t happened in my life many years ago, I have no idea where I’d be today. Because the sun was piling up and layering, and as you already know, “We Could Never Stand That!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, I’m so glad you found me. In fact, where would I be if Jesus didn’t love me? Amen
