S-cripture:
Numbers 2:34a
So the Israelites did everything the Lord commanded Moses.
O-bservation:
This particular chapter from the book of Numbers, which was part of the Torah, tells us that God instructed Moses where the camp was to settle whenever they ceased a long journey. As the chapter ends, the Bible says that the people of Israel did EVERYTHING that the Lord had commanded them to do.
A-pplication:
The preaching and teaching concerning the Old Testament people of God, Israel, usually shows their continual rebellion against the will of God. However, this passage reminds us, “They Didn’t Always Fail.” Remember, if all they ever did was rebel against God, they never would have gotten out of Egypt or the Wilderness. Somewhere in there, they obeyed. We tend to see the bad in people instead of the good. I know I am a sinner saved by grace. I know I’ve messed up too many times to count. But I also know I’m a lot closer now than when I started following Him in my youth. I have made mistakes, but thanks be to God, I’m not where I used to be. Because of Jesus, we don’t always fail. I’ll bet you’re shaking your head YES along with me.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Thank You that You have taken the world out of me. Oh, there’s a little bit still in me, but my eyes are on you. Help me thank You more and more for the growth in me, instead of the potential failure that is always lurking. Amen
