Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Hosea 9:7b
Let Israel know this. Because your sins are so many and your hostility so great, the prophet is considered a fool, the inspired person a maniac.
O-bservation:
Hosea was the prophet of God, who was God’s living illustration of how much he wanted the children of Israel to return to her first love. To be honest, in chapter eleven of this same book, God walks away from his own anger and says, My heart has been changed towards you. My compassions have been aroused I can’t destroy you. I will not carry out my fierce against you.” But, right here, he is still angered and annoyed at the fact that the prophets he sends to Israel are treated with such contempt. He said, “They Call My Prophet, The Fool.”
A-pplication:
For just a moment, I’m going to ask you to try and put yourself in God’s shoes. He sent his anointed prophets to Israel to warn Israel that if she didn’t change, she would be destroyed. And instead of respecting God’s voice-box of God’s warning of coming peril heading their way, they treated these oracles of God as if they were FOOLS! Imagine that! God is the ALL-KNOWING SOVEREIGN OF THE UNIVERSE, and he had to deal with these “peanut-brained” people known as Israel. These dummies had the audacity to call God’s oracles “FOOLS!” But what about us? What about our elitist nation? Aren’t those in print and televised media finding fault and taking every opportunity to find ways to cancel the choicest of God’s men and women? We appear to be just like Israel, calling the prophets of God, “FOOLS!” I suppose, in the end, God will find a way to accept our nations back when they repent. In the meantime, we must respect the words from the prophet’s mouth.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I know the heat is being turned up in your church worldwide and especially here in the west, where we’ve had it so easy during my lifetime. Help us to endure and not crumble under the pressure of it all. My will is always to do your will, my Lord. Amen
