Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 140:12
I know that the LORD secures justice for the poor and upholds the cause of the needy.
O-bservation:
Here the greatest king in all of Israel’s history, David, once again brings up, “That Word JUSTICE.” He was a man after God’s own heart. No king ever cherished the love of God like David did. No king ever desired to live in the presence of God more than this king did. And through my limited knowledge of the Word of God, no Israeli king ever thought more about “That Word JUSTICE,” like King David did.
A-pplication:
King David detested the fact that the poor and needy were shown injustice in any way. It was so dear to his heart that each person in his nation was treated with utmost fairness. Whenever he saw injustice, he spoke to it and acted on it to make it right. Great nations throughout history have cared for all of their constituents; however, as their love for money and power grew, the care the leaders once had for their people waned, and in time the said nation would weaken and, in most cases, crumble. But that was never true for David. His love for people was the common thread of his reign. Whenever he felt that someone was being treated unfairly, he would mention, “That Word JUSTICE,” again. It’s high time that you and I be more and more concerned for JUSTICE in our cities and nations as we see loving authority throughout the world going away.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m concerned that throughout my own community, I see so many people who are lacking true Justice. Help me be a leader in my small way, who speaks to that matter and moves into action to eradicate it as never before. Let Justice roll down, I pray. Amen
