Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Matthew 12:34
You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks with the heart is full of.

O-bservation:

Jesus had a tendency to do really good things on the Sabbath, and that was always getting him in trouble with the Pharisees. On this occasion, he had healed a man on the Sabbath, and the Pharisees claimed he had broken the law. He called them a brood of vipers who couldn’t speak the truth. He said the mouth could only speak what the heart is full of. When you consider the complete hypocrisy of the Pharisees, it’s obvious that “They Were Full Of It!”

A-pplication:

Whatever comes out of your mouth or mine is an indication of what’s in our hearts. King David prayed to God and asked him to “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Ps. 139:23,24) David was a sinner, but he was also a man after God’s own heart. I know that’s what I want to be with less of an emphasis on the “SINNER” part. I want to daily be able to say to the Lord, “Search me! Is there anything that is displeasing to you. Because I don’t want to be full of that kind of stuff. I really desire to please you, my God. For sure, I don’t want to be “Full Of It!” Today decide that for you, it will be more of Jesus and less of me!

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

When I read the story of the Pharisee, it’s easy to see that, “They We’re Full Of It! I don’t want to be that guy. Help me, Jesus to be less of me and more of you! Amen
