Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Joshua 1:8

Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

O-bservation:

These were the words of God Almighty to Joshua, the new leader of Israel, after the death of Moses. In a nutshell, God told Joshua to speak the Word, think the Word, and do the Word every day. If he did, God would make him “Prosperous And Successful.”

A-pplication:

I’m pretty sure this is the only place in the Bible where the words Prosperous and Successful are mentioned together. There are other translations where it doesn’t appear just like this, yet it’s pretty clear that this is what God wants for his people. I hear many Christians decry the idea of God wanting His children to be Prosperous and Successful, but what I believe is that God doesn’t want us to focus on those two things our every waking minute. Instead, God wants His children to be Prosperous and Successful by speaking God’s Word, thinking God’s Word, and doing God’s Word every day. When we obey that threefold principle, we will be “Prosperous And Successful.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Thank you that my wife and I have been “Prosperous And Successful” for these almost fifty years of marriage. Oh, there have been times in the early days when we had to wait for the check to clear before we could buy milk. But we never felt poor and defeated! Thank you for keeping us in your Word daily to counteract the lies of the devil that constantly come against us! Amen
