Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Ezra 4:24
Thus the work on the house of God in Jerusalem came to a standstill until the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.
O-bservation:
This event happened during the ministry of the prophet and writer Ezra. Ezra was a contemporary of Nehemiah who was commissioned by the King of Persia to rebuild Jerusalem, which had been destroyed under the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar. While they were rebuilding in Jerusalem, men who were against them got a stop order from the King of Persia, and the work of God came to a halt.
A-pplication:
In my life, I have witnessed over and over that when people are doing good work for the Lord, there will always be OPPOSITION! I’m sure in your own life, you’ve experienced times when you knew you were on a mission of the Lord, and in the middle of doing what he called you to do, OPPOSITION suddenly arose. Why is this? Under Ezra and Nehemiah, everything the Jews were doing was a good thing for the kingdom of God, and they had been given permission and orders to rebuild Jerusalem by the King of Persia. Yet in the middle of it all, the King ordered them to be stopped! Why? The very enemy of our souls, even Satan himself, will do everything possible to thwart the will of God. The OPPOSITION these people were facing was because they were doing God’s will. Just know that, as a believer, the very fact that you are facing OPPOSITION today is an indicator that you’re probably in the perfect will of God! Just keep going!
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m grateful this AM that you have given me a mission here on earth. Help me, I pray, to push through any OPPOSITION the enemy may try and put on me today. Amen
